My journey with stained glass began at the age of twelve during a school elective, when the late artist Jean Yanchus recognized my gift and encouraged me to pursue it. That Christmas, my incredible parents gave me a beginner’s set—an act of love that sparked what has become a lifelong passion.
Primarily self-taught, I’ve developed as an artisan through curiosity, persistence, and a deep connection to the glass itself. This medium constantly challenges me while offering a therapeutic, almost meditative outlet. For me, working with stained glass is a way of exploring both the seen and the unseen—bringing light, texture, and emotion together in every piece.
While Muskoka is home and a continuous source of inspiration, my creative vision extends far beyond. I draw energy from Canada’s vast and varied landscapes, while also embracing the cultures, histories, and artistic traditions of people around the world. Every piece I create is rooted in connection: between nature and spirit, place and memory, self and community.
Custom work is at the heart of what I do. My pieces are deeply personal—crafted with intention, meaning, and emotion. That’s why I chose the name Meraki, a Greek word that means to put your soul, creativity, and love into your work. It perfectly captures how I approach my art.
When I’m not in the studio, I find balance and inspiration through time with my husband Mark, my family and friends, quiet kayak paddles, experimenting in the kitchen, exploring other art forms, and enjoying the company of our two dogs.
